- The precise control of the reactions during the thermo-treatment process is one of the achievements of WESTWOOD technology. This is significantly important for the hardwoods treatment, so WESTWOOD technology is now the only specially adopted one for hardwoods.
- Due to the feedback system that allows the controlling of the processes according to the actual real time data, depending on the specie, initial moisture content, size, chemical composition and a lot of other parameters that are impossible to calculate theoretically before you loading the chamber.
- The WESTWOOD Process monitors and manages over 20 parameters every 5 seconds to automatically adjust to the parameters of the primary wood, such as: specie, size, humidity, chemical composition and geometry. So, WESTWOOD now is the most state-of-the-art wood Thermo treatment technology incorporating all achievements and development experience of thermo-treatment processes.
- The size of WESTWOOD kiln chamber is ideally combined with the generally available supply of the power source. The optimization process allows the thermo-treatment cycle to be performed in 10-16 hours. While 2500 bf charge is not as large as for some available kilns from the competitors (up to 20 000 bf), the actual production throughput is higher and the cost of processing per bf is lower than that of the competitiors.
- The WESTWOOD technology allows to control the process with the accuracy of 0.3 degree F. The system is controlled by the software processing information from electronic sensors and completely excluding the human intervention. Multistage crash protection and self-test system produces a high level of system reliability.
- WESTWOOD system has a built-in option for remote process control through Internet hook-up, thus providing the operator with the ability to monitor the kiln and charge condition, as well as remote on-line diagnostics and software upgrades by the equipment manufacturer. Also we provide the software to allow the control of the chamber operation through cell-phone.
- WESTWOOD equipment is delivered as a "turn-key plug-and-work" kiln. The installation takes a few days for the physical attachment of the service lines to the kiln. The equipment is mounted inside of a standard hi-cube container, that makes it mobile, easy to be transported and installed.
- WESTWOOD equipment is delivered complete with a set of replacement wearable parts and assemblies required for 2 year of full-load operation (included in the original purchase price) and warranty.
- The air emissions and wastewater filters are provided by an additional automatic system, matching the local environmental codes. Moreover, the standard delivery set includes a patented low-temperature air purification plasma system. The waste air is 95% purified.
- Due to the implemented innovations and manufacturing optimization, the cost of WESTWOOD equipment is 30% to 50% lower than the competititor's equipment.
2. WESTWOOD by SII 3-D Thermo-treatment Kilns.
The new generation of WESTWOOD Technology specially developed the process for a 3-Dimensional Heat wave control inside the Chamber. This new technology doesn't have a comparison in the world. Most of the treatment technologies now use the turbulent air flow inside the chamber and can be considered as 1-Dimensional heat wave technologies. The precise 3-D heat wave control of the processes is especially important for treating hardwoods, compared with softwoods. The 3-D control not only allows to get a predictable result for hardwood treatment, but also to produce the specific products, such as colored parquet and other design products (the precise control of the heating in 3-D allows to get the boards with the predictable color deviation in the limited space - see photo of the design floor).
